This innovative project aims to provide a fully accessible outdoor learning environment
for students with special needs, fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting
physical and sensory development.
Arcata Sunrise
: Water
Kenya Supply/access/filtration
The are primary schools in two locations in Kenya have dilapidated or absent water storage tanks. Their students must hand-carry kegs of water from a spring to their schools. The administrators at both schools express a need for the establishment of rooftop rainwater catchment systems and the installation of water storage tanks to improve the health, safety, and learning for the students.
Calistoga: Community development
Safety/emergency preparedness
This project will install anti-slip strips on a well-used pedestrian bridge that becomes slippery when wet and in wintertime icy, which can cause a significant safety hazard to those walking the bridge. The bridge is used by school children and community members.
Clear Lake: Mental Health
The Rotary Club of Clear Lake will have a free Mental Health Awareness community event in
Clearlake, California to fight the stigma of Mental Illness and highlight resources within the
community.
Cloverdale: Community development
Beautification/parks
This project involves the building and installation of 3 12'x12' Pergolas to be placed inside the
new Cloverdale Dog Park to provide shade and comfort to both pets and owners during their
visits to the facility.

Fort Bragg: Education
Sports/playgrounds
The NFL, college football teams and even our own high school are using Guardian Caps as a
way to reduce head injuries during practice and games. Guardian Caps are a soft shell that goes
over the helmet of the player to reduce impact to the head and trauma to the brain. This project will provide Guardian Caps for our local youth team.
Fort Bragg: Education
Construction/renovation
The project will provide room makeovers for 3-4 children in our community.
This will involve providing furniture, bedding, a desk, dresser, lamps and freshly painted walls
while involving the child(ren) to give them a sense of ownership. Everyday underprivileged
children in at risk communities live in rooms that are not good for their well-being and
development.
Fortuna: Education
Construction/renovation
This project will help a local charter school to get a shaded structure for their outdoor classroom on
campus along with two mature trees to help provide shade for about 240 students/teachers.

This project will Install a
multifunction hydration
station and educational
signage at a river front
walking
hub on City of Fortuna
property. The station would
have multiple uses: bottle
filler, water
fountain, and pet friendly
watering bowl.
Garberville: Community development

with our local Community
Park to purchase and install
benches
throughout the park.
Currently, there are only a
handful of benches
available, and it has been a
common request from park
users to provide more areas
for resting and enjoying the
natural
surroundings.
Glen Ellen-Kenwood: Education

in meeting classroom

for every student and career
technical education (CTE)
is sorely needed. This
project will purchase three
lathes and specialty wood
supplies to be used in
teaching more advanced
wood working techniques in
the Cabinetry, Millwork and
Woodworking classes
Lakeport: Community development
Beautification/parks
On May 5, 2025, will mark
the Rotary Club of
Lakeport's 100th
Primary beneficiary
General population
anniversary. In celebration
of this
Centennial milestone, this
project will install a time
capsule in the Xabatan Park
in Lakeport to be opened in
50 years.to be opened in 50

Mendocino: Community development

This project would rebuild
the existing sandbox,
replacing the existing sand
with
sterile, playground quality
sand and rebuild about 40
feet of existing playground
fence which is
danger of falling down at the
Community Center of
Mendocino, a community based non- profit which
serves people of all ages on
the Mendocino Coast.
Napa Sunrise: Community development
Beautification/parks
The Napa Valley Vine Trail
Coalition (Vine Trail) is a
grass-roots nonprofit with a
vision to build a
walking/biking trail. system
to connect the entire Napa
Valley--physically,
artistically, and culturally.
This project will provide
funding and labor from 15
to 25 Rotarians to install 30
signposts along the path.

Petaluma/Petaluma Sunrise/Petaluma Valley: Education

This project will give $350
micro-grants to teachers at
local schools. The funds are
meant to cover costs that
teachers have borne out of
pocket and that will enhance
the learning experience for
their students. The 3
Petaluma area Rotary Clubs
will participate in this
project.
Russian River (Guerneville): Education Mexico
Construction/renovation
In Mexico, Escuelitas are for
classes that are held in areas
of scarce population or not
served by state schools.
Work has been started to
build a new room The
foundation, concrete floor
and brick walls are built and
part of the material for the
roof has been acquired. This
project will purchase the
remaining material, install a
concrete roof and complete
initial electrical work for the
room.
Santa Rosa East/West Community development
Animal welfare
This project will erect a sign
for the Apex Predator
Habitat at the Sonoma
County Wildlife
Rescue facility. This will
include clearing the land
around the sign, digging
hole posts, pouring
concrete, erecting sign and
beautifying the area around
the sign.
Sebastopol: Community development Mexico
Sports/recreation/playgrounds
Brief description
Tecuala has experienced
several hurricanes in the
past five years, which
severely damaged the
only children's playground in
the town. The project will
repair walls, a gate entrance
(a safety
feature) and replace
damaged/destroyed

This Grant project will to
purchase veterinary
equipment to go with other
District 5130 club
commitments to provide for
furnishings to outfit a new
volunteer veterinary
mobile spay and neuter
service in the region
surrounding Tepic Mexico.
Sebastopol Sunrise: Peace
This project will fund the
travel and related expenses
for one disabled Korean war
veteran to travel to
Washington, DC. The
project also includes a big
send-off event and a return
greeting and celebratory
event
Sonoma Springs: Community development
Transportation
Brief description
The Springs Community
Garden is an educational
and production garden
based in Larson Park in the
Boyes Hot Springs area of
Sonoma Valley. The garden
has been there for over 20
years and has recently seen
new life. This project will
include installation of
additional improvements
including vertical living
fences, compost bins, and
irrigation upgrades.
Sonoma Valley: Community development
Food/hunger
This project in coordination
with other local food
recovery efforts, will glean
neighborhoods and recover
fruit and vegetables that
would otherwise go to waste
and distribute it to people in
need. The project will also
increase awareness of food
insecurity in our valley and
strengthen neighborhood
collaboration.
Windsor: Environment
Restoration/conservation
This project supports the
Healdsburg Arundo
Removal Project to reduce
fire hazards to the adjacent
community and ecological
impacts from the non-native
invasive Arundo Donax
species. The project will
include rentals to facilitate 2
Rotary and community
workdays in the fall/spring
of ‘24/25 and to purchase
tools needed by crew and
volunteers to continue
Arundo removal now and in
the future
District 5130 Governors 7 Areas of Focus Grant
This District Project
will fund projects that fall
within one of the 7 Areas of
Focus that will be created
and implemented by District
Rotary Clubs with $800 for
each participating Club.
