CLASS : Mosiac Knitting, Saturday, 9 - 12; Teacher: Eve BorkenhagenSkill Level: EasyMosiac Knitting is a slip stitch, color knitting technique "invented" by Barbara Walker who authored a book about it. Materials: 2 skeins worsted wt yarn - one Variegated, one solid with good contrast; 24" circular needles with needle size to fit yarn.
CLASS - Tips and Tricks For Working With Variegated Yarns: Saturday, 2 - 5pmTeacher: Barbara BensonVariegated yarn is a seductive siren with all of its amazing colors dancing in the skein. It entices you to buy it, but when you get it home it sits on the shelf, beautifully, and you agonize over how you are going to make it look as beautiful in your finished piece as it does in the skein. This class will teach you multiple techniques for working with variegated yarn including how to analyze potential patterns for compatibility.Skill Levels: knit, purl, cast-on, bind-off, slip stitch.Materials needed: A skein of highly variegated yarn with needle of appropriate size to work at a loose gauge (maybe a needle size bigger than the skein calls for).Material fees: None
CLASS - Blocking TechniquesSunday, 9 - 12Barbara Benson has taught this class at Wine and Wool in the past. It was a fabulous class and we read many wonderful evaluations. Alas, those who did not take it were sad and asked that we repeat it, so here it is. Barbara covers all kinds of blocking - from soaking your project to spinning the water out, laying it out, pinning it out, using blocking wires, blocking pins and more. She advises on which method to use for different yarns and projects. This class answers any questions you might have about how to block. All skill levels.Materials required: None.
